How small can you go?

Small living spaces have been a trend in the news this past year with new micro-condos being built in Vancouver and across Canada - but how small can you go?

A Vancouver-based company, NOMAD Micro Homes, is hoping to start selling these tiny homes early next year.

These 100 square foot homes are about the size of most people's garden sheds - yet include a bathroom, kitchen, heat and a bedroom loft. There is even an option for solar panels and rainwater collection so you can live "off-the-grid".
You can order them online, and they ship the ready to assemble home to you to build yourself - kind of like IKEA.

It's not only the West Coast heading to this small trend - Toronto is boasting smaller and smaller condos - but none as small as this 3 room, 189 square foot home that sold in Toronto in September.
At least is has a nice yard though, and bedroom where you can close the door.

Or you could follow in the footsteps of a California artist that designed himself a home away from home in New York....in a dumpster.

If he wants to get some extra sunlight inside, he can lift the retractable roof to expose two windows and let in the light
Gregory Kloehn bought this brand new dumpster for $2000 - and then converted into a fully functional home.

It has a built in kitchen with an outdoor grill, indoor toilet, even a roof top lounging area.

You can even shower...if you don't mind doing it on the street with only a shower curtain between you and the rest of the world.

So let us know....how small could you go? Can you picture yourself in one of these lovely little homes?
